| What is the Oregon Club?
As a Duck supporter or current member, you probably are already aware of Oregon Club. In fact, you have likely attended one or more of our annual events as well as the weekly Monday luncheons during the academic year. But you may or may not be aware of what Oregon Club really stands for and what we have accomplished, with help from you and others, over the years.
Oregon Club of Eugene-Springfield was formed in 1947. Today we are a 501C (3) Corporation that is associated with, but autonomous from, the University of Oregon and the Athletic Department. As such, we are a non-profit fund raising organization with the singular purpose of financially and otherwise supporting Oregon Athletics. Oregon Club is run by an executive committee and a 12 member board of directors.
How We Fund Raise
Oregon Club's single largest fund raising vehicle is membership. Your annual or lifetime dues provide the foundation of our annual operating platform. Our current membership is nearly 700 strong. The Big Green Benefit Auction in the Fall has become a popular fixture of Oregon Club.
How Much Goes to the Ducks?
Since
1965,
Oregon Club of Eugene-Springfield has contributed well over $1,754,000
in direct scholarship
support and other financial assistance to the Duck Athletic Fund. Athletes
supported by Oregon Club scholarships in recent years include: Chelsea Wagner and Luke Jackson. The Oregon Club recently increased our
endowed scholarship fund to $1,000,000, among the largest at the University.
Keeping the Student
in Student Athletics
The goal of the University of Oregon is to assist student-athletes in achieving the goals they set for themselves during their college career and beyond. As such, they have made a strong commitment to student-athletes to increase their chances of receiving a quality education and to graduate with a meaningful degree.
The tutoring and advising budget within the athletic department has grown six-fold in just ten years to help meet that commitment. The result is vastly upgraded academic support facilities and tutoring available in all disciplines.
